Jade scores Oz soccer anthem

Perth's own pop princess Samantha Jade has added yet another victory to her growing showbiz resume by penning Australia's official anthem for the upcoming soccer World Cup.

Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou asked the former X Factor winner to create a song that would inspire positivity among the players and provided a book of messages from the team to get her started.

Jade came up with the resulting tune Up!, which she will perform at the Socceroo's send-off game against South Africa at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on May 26.

"I'm so excited that my new single Up! has been announced as the official Socceroos song and that I will also be performing at the farewell game," said the Morley- raised singer, who posted a picture of herself in a Socceroos strip on her Instagram.

It's the latest accolade on a growing list for the 26-year-old, who last month appeared as Kylie Minogue in Seven's telemovie INXS: Never Tear Us Apart and was recently named the new pin-up for both Westfield and Weet-Bix.

However, Jade's booming career has been tainted by sadness after news her mother Jacqueline Gibbs is battling cancer.

Up! is available on pre-order tomorrow and will be released on April 11.
