Lorde to perform at Grammys

Pop superstar Lorde is set take the stage at this month's Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

The Auckland 17-year-old, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor, is up for four Grammys, including song of the year, record of the year, best pop solo performance and best pop vocal album for Pure Heroine.

The Grammy nominations follow the stellar success of her debut single Royals, which spent nine weeks at the top of the US Hot 100 Billboard chart in 2013.

Lorde will be among a number of nominees who will perform at the star-studded awards ceremony on January 26, The Grammys tweeted.

She also took the stage at the Grammy nominations concert in December.

Lorde was forced to pull out of the Auckland leg of the popular Laneway Festival, because it clashes with the Grammy Awards.

Another headline act, James Blake, has also had to skip the festival because of the Grammys.
