The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards will be without its host when it kicks off in Sydney next week, after Packed to the Rafters' star *Hugh Sheridan *was forced to pull out due to filming conflicts.

The Logie award winner, right, who defected from Seven to Ten last year, was announced as the award's front man just two weeks ago.

The event is due to be televised next Wednesday on Ten and despite losing their star presenter, a spokesperson from the network has confirmed the broadcast will still go ahead.

Sheridan's sudden departure from his hosting duties is a blow for Ten, which this year picked up coverage of the awards which had previously aired on Nine.
