Two Australian feature films have been selected for the Berlin International Film Festival.
The Rocket, nominated for the Best First Feature award, will have its world premiere at the festival in February.
Screening in a section devoted to children and young people, it tells the story of a Lao boy, thought to bring bad luck, who leads his family across war-torn Laos to the dangerous Rocket Festival.
Also selected for the Generation Kplus competition is Satellite Boy, which stars David Gulpilil as the grandfather of a young boy trying to save his home.
"It's tremendous to see these cross-cultural stories of children from up-and-coming Australian talent, reaching out to international audiences," said Screen Australia's head of marketing Kathleen Drumm.
- The Berlin International Film Festival will take place from February 7-17.
