Perth model-turned-actress Courtney Eaton's star is on the rise.

The 16-year-old has just landed back in Australia from the African set of the rebooted movie Mad Max: Fury Road, where she plays one of the wives belonging to bad guy Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne, who also had a role in the first Mad Max).

For Eaton, playing opposite Charlize Theron was the most nerve-wrecking, but the Academy Award-winning actress was anything but intimidating.

"(Theron is) like a big sister," Eaton told InStyle magazine.

"She looks out for all of us - and she'll crack these hilarious jokes on set when we're doing something serious.

"Her mum (Gerda) makes amazing meat and fish curries. Everyone's in love with them."

Along with Theron, Mad Max: Fury Road stars Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception) in the title role originally made famous by Mel Gibson.

Eaton's wifely co-stars are also some big names - including supermodel and Transformers 3 star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ("She's the full package; everyone is in love with her"), Zoe Kravitz (Lenny's daughter, who has "so much energy"), Riley Keough (Elvis Presley's "really sweet" granddaughter) and Aussie supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw, who Eaton has long admired ("I've always loved her quirkiness").

While the remote film set in Namibia couldn't be further from Eaton's home town of Bunbury, it wasn't totally different.

"It's kind of similar to Bunbury but in the middle of the desert - (the township) is about the same size and everything closes on a Sunday," Eaton said.

Max Max: Fury Road is set for release next year.
