James Bond star Daniel Craig feels like he can celebrate now that he’s in Australia, because it marks the last stop on an intense worldwide tour promoting his new film, Skyfall.
Craig might be better travelled than 007 himself.
Since kicking off the promotional tour in London on October 23, he’s visited five other countries including Australia, according to Sony publicists.
But Craig, who came to Australia with Skyfall co-stars Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe, says he hasn’t been counting.
“The great thing is coming to Sydney I know it’s over, so it’s nice to celebrate here,” he said on Friday, adding that he’s going to make the most of the short stay.
Craig also visited Australia to promote the Bond films Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale, where he was able to spend a week and do some sightseeing, a luxury he doesn’t always get.
“One of the bonuses of my job, I get to sort of visit so many places. The sad thing is we do it too quick and I don’t get to see too much,” he said.
One of the common questions he’s asked during his trips Down Under is whether the jetsetting Bond will ever visit Australia.
“There’s always a chance, of course there is,” said Craig, who has input into the script from the beginning.
“When we come to decide these things, it’s really what’s in the script and how it develops, but of course I’d love to come film here.
“There’s not that many locations here that we could pick from but we’d find one for sure.”
Skyfall opens in Australian cinemas on November 22.
