She's the brunette bombshell from country WA who's obsessed with all things pink and he's the shy, quirky insect collector who struggles to understand the opposite sex.
It might not seem like a match made in heaven but after teaming up on Seven's witty reality show, Beauty and the Geek, last night, Kalbarri-born beauty Courtney Sander and biology student Matt Hall admit there is a lot they can learn from one another.
"I learnt everything about Star Wars," the giggly 19-year-old told AAA by phone this week. "The boys in the mansion are just hilarious and I had an absolute ball with them, we had so much fun. They were really interesting so it was like I was learning and having fun at the same time."
The 19-year-old Hall - who like most of the socially inept geeks before him has had trouble on the love front - hoped Sander could teach him a thing or two about women.
"I've always wanted to be more confident and assertive because I've never really had that," he said. "I've spent most of my life with not much good luck with women and relationships so I thought if this was going to help, I was willing to try anything."
Though Sander was intrigued by Hall's bug-loving hobby, she said she was shocked to discover he "killed" insects for his collection.
"I like butterflies and creepy crawlies and that sort of stuff but I didn't realise he killed the bugs himself so I thought that was really sad," she giggled.
"I thought it was really mean."
But one thing the duo does have in common is that neither had volunteered to apply for the show.
"My employer from work, she made me apply," Sander said. "It was really funny, she was like 'Have you seen the Beauty and the Geek adverts on TV, you should apply'. I said 'Oh what's the point I'm not going to get on it' and she was just like 'No I'm paying you, so you're applying'.
"I didn't expect to get an audition and then when I actually got in I was overwhelmed, I actually screamed. It was so exciting, it's like a dream come true."
Hall, who seemed far less enthused than Sander about getting on to the show, said he was "dobbed in" by friends.
"I suppose I was a bit apprehensive about applying but then I really thought I had nothing to lose so I went for it," he said.
Beauty and the Geek airs Thursdays at 8.30pm on Seven/GWN7.
