New mum Jessica Simpson forced herself to kick-start her post-pregnancy weight loss program after catching sight of her naked, heavy frame in the mirror.
The singer recently admitted to packing on the pounds while pregnant with her baby daughter Maxwell because she wanted to enjoy her first pregnancy, but getting back into shape after giving birth in May hasn't been an easy task.
Simpson subsequently signed up as the new spokesmodel for diet plan WeightWatchers and has since lost 40 pounds (18kg), debuting her slimmer figure on US TV on Monday.
However, the star says her biggest motivation to lose the extra weight came after seeing the naked truth for herself as she no longer wanted to be targeted by gossip columnists.
"The easiest way to get motivated is to strip naked and look in the mirror. It's not fun to be talked about. It's not fun to be judged," she tells US news show Access Hollywood.
But despite her slim down, Simpson admits attending the weekly WeightWatchers meetings to track her progress was a daunting task.
"The very first time I got on the scale in my WeightWatchers meeting, my heart was pounding because I had no idea how much I weighed. I was always the girl who stood on the scale backwards because I didn't want to face it."
