We will soon be seeing a lot more of Miranda Kerr around Australia with the supermodel reportedly set to feature in a national advertising campaign for Qantas.
Qantas has signed Kerr to promote the Qantas Club in its battle to retain the airline’s lucrative frequent flyer customers, according to Fairfax Media.
The move is also being seen as a push by the airline to attract a younger generation of flyers away from the more youthful Virgin Australia.
The national ad campaign will see the supermodel appear on billboards and advertising in airport terminals and online, says The Australian Financial Review.
According to the report, the campaign will cost an estimated $1 million or more and is part of Qantas’s biggest marketing push since the 2000 Olympics.
Airlines regularly turn to celebrities to boost their image. Virgin used fellow Australian model Elle Macpherson to launch its new uniform last year and Etihad has used Dannii Minogue as a brand ambassador.
Kerr is also the face of department store David Jones. She was in Australia this week to launch the retailer’s spring/summer fashion collection.
