Former TV host and model Ruby Rose has turned her life around as she follows her ambition to make it on the big screen.
Rose is making her feature film debut in The Block, starring Hollywood star Christina Ricci and veteran Aussie actor Jack Thompson.
Regularly pictured in the celebrity social pages, Rose tells News Ltd that the role feels like a "gift" after choosing to turn her life around.
She decided to give up alcohol and has now now been sober for eight months, according to The Sunday Telegraph.
"I've had so many ups and downs," Rose has told the newspaper.
"Now I'm 26, I've been working my butt off and I have tried to turn my whole life around, including my career."
Rose first gained fame by joining the Girlfriend model search in 2002, which she came in second to Catherine McNeil. She landed a gig as a VJ on MTV in 2009 and went on to win a ASTRA Award for Favourite Female Personality.
However it has often been Rose's personal life that has attracted the most attention. A stir was caused when rumours surfaced that Rose was in a relationship with Jessica Origliasso from Australian sister-act The Veronicas.
It's understood she was briefly engaged to model Lyndsey Anne McMillan in 2009. Rose was most recently linked with supermodel McNeil. In 2010 it was reported the couple had become engaged, however they reportedly called off the engagement later that same year.
