It seems Australians lost their taste for The Hunger Games over Easter and went looking for a piece of Pie instead.

American Pie: Reunion debuted at the top of the Australian box office taking more than $4.8 million, dropping the teen blockbuster The Hunger Games into second place in its third week of release.

The latest in the American Pie franchise also pushed The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Dr Seuss' The Lorax into third and fourth place respectively, according to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia.

Fans of Titanic flocked to see the classic in 3D at the weekend, with the film taking home more than $1.72 million, placing it in fifth position on its debut weekend.

Wrath of the Titans, 21 Jump Street and Mirror Mirror each fell two places while Pirates! Band of Misfits debuted in ninth and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen held steady to wrap up the Top Ten.
