- BOB MARLEY DOCUMENTARY *
A documentary on the late reggae legend Bob Marley will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival.
Director Kevin Macdonald, who made The Last King of Scotland, was granted access to rare and unseen footage by the Marley family, who sanctioned the film, titled Marley.
"This documentary is the ultimate revelation of my father's life. The family is proud to be able to have the world finally experience this emotional journey," the singer's son Ziggy Marley, who serves as an executive producer on the project, said.
The documentary will also be distributed in the US, where studio bosses at Magnolia Pictures have acquired the American distribution rights.
It will open in US theatres on April 20. Marley would have turned 67 last Monday.
Macdonald won the 2000 Best Documentary Oscar for his film One Day in September.
The Berlin Film Festival starts tomorrow.
