Food hall alternative to fast food restaurant
Subiaco markets food hall - could this be appropriate for Margaret River instead of a fast food restaurant?

Anti-fast-food campaigners want the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River to meet with Woolworths and discuss turning the proposed restaurant into a food hall.

“The community has stood very strongly to oppose this application,” organiser Sabine Lane told the Times.

“We believe that such a (food hall) proposal is more in keeping with Margaret River’s values, a more viable business in Margaret River and creates greater choice for residents and tourists looking for a low-cost meal.

“We hope that the council pins Woolworths down on the parking issue (and) that they do not bend back to meet the wishes of developers while ignoring the concerns of residents.”

Shire president Ray Colyer said he didn’t see it as his role as a councillor to make the approach residents demanded.

“We will review the application and ask the question when the officers are preparing the report, if that is what happens at the officer level,” he said.
