UPDATE 2.20pm: Shares in Evolution Mining were up after the gold miner announced a 9 per cent growth in annual production to 427,703 ounces of gold equivalent.

Executive chairman Jake Klein said it was pleasing to have again delivered a production result that was consistent with original market guidance of 400,000-450,000 ounces.

June quarter production was 111,899 ounces, exceeding the company's previous guidance.

"It is testament to the benefits of having a diverse portfolio of assets which allows us to deliver a level of operational predictability that is not possible in single asset companies," he said.

Evolution operates the Edna May mine 350km east of Perth, along with another four mines in Queensland.

Shares in Evolution closed up 2.5 cents, or 3.43 per cent, at 75.5 cents.
