Only ampersand survives Booz makeover

PwC and management consultancy Booz & Co have completed their global tie-up with a makeover and a promise to go beyond glossy PowerPoint presentations and buzz words.

Tuesday's legal sign-off completes a merger announced five months ago and elevates PwC into the top echelon of strategic and management consultancies.

The Booz & Co business will operate independently within the PwC network under a new identity, Strategy&.

The renamed business' regional managing director, Chris Manning, said the inclusion of the ampersand in the new moniker was a nod to the Booz & Co brand but also introduced "the art of the impossible and allows us to fill in the blanks".

Mr Manning said that too often he saw customers commission glossy strategic reviews and presentations and then either struggle with the execution of the advice or discard it altogether.

"What this is all about is providing clients with the opportunity to have a seamless process from strategy through to execution," Mr Manning said.

"Those aren't just buzz words."

He said Strategy& combined "all the strategy capabilities that Booz & Co is famous for with the depth and power of the PwC capabilities through to execution".

PwC Australia chief executive Luke Sayer said the merger was already creating business for the combined group.
