For the third time in five years Subiaco-based Meerkats has been named Ad Agency of the Year at the State's top advertising industry awards.
It caps off a big year for the agency, which launched major campaigns and rebrands for Brownes, Mrs Mac's, P&N Bank and lured back the lucrative iiNet account from Melbourne-based BWM.
Meerkats also picked up high-profile accounts including the Real Estate Institute of WA, the Chamber of Commerce, the West Coast Eagles, and was appointed to Western Power's panel.
Agency managing director Gavin Bain said the agency's awards submission showed its work was "achieving sales results, campaign targets and key brand metrics" for its clients.
"2013 was the year that Meerkats delivered on our promise to help gain a greater share of the future across all of our clients," he said. "We also had a great year for new business, client retention and staff stability."
Meerkats also picked up the best print ad award for its Mrs Mac's ad. It edged out Marketforce and SHEDcsc to win.
For the second year in a row, the judges recognised RAC WA as the Advertiser of the Year. It was significant win for the insurer and car club in its first full year with its new creative partner JWT. The agency opened an office in Perth as a condition of winning the account from The Brand Agency, which worked with RAC for more than 20 years.
The judges praised the RAC for buying into the attention-powered car idea, which received global media coverage. It was named Best Campaign of the Year in the awards.
There was also success for the agency that books RAC's ad space, with Initiative picking up Media Agency of the Year.
The best televisions ads were The Brand Agency's ad for Health Engine and, in the campaign category, Marketforce's work for HBF.
Gatecrasher won best radio ad for a Make Smoking History ad, while the radio campaign section was won by Marketforce's Geekiest Promo in the Universe for iiNet's Internode brand.
