Sirius appoints new COO

UPDATE 1.15pm: Sirius Resources has appointed veteran mining engineer and mine manager Rob Dennis as its new chief operating officer.

Mr Dennis, who has 35 years' experience working across the nickel, copper, gold and alumina sectors, will oversee the feasibility study and development of the company's Nova-Bollinger nickel-copper project.

Mr Dennis has worked in senior positions at a raft of listed and previously listed ASX companies including Poseidon Nickel, Aditya Birla, LionOre Australia, Great Central Mines and Western Mining Corporation.

Sirius managing director Mark Bennett said Mr Dennis' extensive operational experience would be a great asset in the development of Nova-Bollinger.

Sirius said its definitive feasibility study for the Nova-Bollinger nickel-copper project was scheduled for completion by the middle of the year.

Shares in the company were off eight cents, or 3.65 per cent, to $2.11 at the close.
