Old Coast Road Brewery owner Andrew Harris has proved again his beers can measure up to the top products in the State when he took out two gold medals at the recent Perth Royal Beer Show award night.
His PBH Strong Porter won the Edith Cowan University Trophy for the best stout packaged and the Hopco Trophy for best stout draught while his Harris Bitter draught won bronze.
This follows last year’s success of one gold medal and six bronze.
Since opening in 2007 the brewery has attracted a growing number of fans who enjoy the rural setting, the food and beer in a family-friendly venue.
Mr Harris said beer brewing was competitive and he was up against bigger companies such as Swan Brewery, Little Creatures and Gage Roads.
“I was blown away winning one trophy last year but I could not believe it when I won two gold medals this year,” he said.
“It is very hard to judge your own beer and I am my worst critic.
“I am always trying to make improvements and winning at the show acknowledges that we are going in the right direction.”
Mr Harris said his PBH Strong Porter was judged third best from more than 200 entries in all categories and he was thrilled to achieve the result in a short time.
