Woman dies after dropping phone in bath
A woman has died after reportedly dropping her iPhone into the bath with her while it was charging.
Evgenia Sviridenko, 24, had been taking a bath at her Moscow home while using Russian social network VKontakte, Metro reports.
Her flatmate said she discovered what had happened when she noticed the victim had been gone for a while.
“When I couldn’t raise her I opened the door and saw her floating on the water looking really pale,” she told Metro.
“I saw her phone which was on the charger was at the bottom of the bath, and I unplugged it and pulled her out.”
Apple chargers are designed with a low voltage to prevent accidents like this from occurring, and police are investigating whether she was using an imitation product.
The woman’s death comes just days after a teenage girl died in the Republic of Bashkortostan after reportedly taking her phone and charger into the shower.
