iPad prices on the rise
Australian Apple customers are now paying almost the same as American and Chinese counterparts for the latest iPads.
CommSec figures show Australia has gone from fourth cheapest place in the world for an iPad to 13th in six months.
The change has come despite little movement in the value of the Australian dollar, suggesting a price grab at the expense of local shoppers.
CommSec tracks the measure of iPads across 51 nations. It found a 16GB iPad Air with retina display is retailing in Australia for $598 ($US561.66), up from $539 in September last year.
The cheapest is Japan at $US480.36. Malaysia is the only other country in the world where an iPad retails under the $US500 mark.
The most expensive spot in the world is Argentina at $US974.96.
