QBE calls trading halt on bad weather

QBE has gone into a trading halt because of investor speculation regarding recent heavy rain and flooding, upcoming full year results and takeover activity.

QBE's trading halt will remain in place until the company makes a statement regarding its 2010 results, recent Australian catastrophes, acquisition activity, 2011 comprehensive worldwide reinsurance protections and 2011 financial targets.

QBE, Australia's biggest insurance company, said in a statement on Thursday it was likely to make the announcement before commencement of trade.
