Retail trading still weak

Australian retail spending rose a weaker than expected 0.2 per cent in August, official figures show.

Retail trade rose in the month to a seasonally adjusted $21.457 billion, compared to a downwardly revised $21.404 billion in June, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said today.

Economists had been forecasting a rise of 0.4 per cent for the month of August.
