Australia's unemployment rose to 5.1 per cent in May, official figures show.
The April figure was an upwardly revised 5.0 per cent.
Total employment rose 38,900 to 11.538 million in the month, according to the seasonally adjusted figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.
The forecast was for total employment to be flat in May with the unemployment rate at 5.1 per cent, according to the median of 15 market economists surveyed by AAP.
