GR in line for Sirius contract

Sirius Resources has named GR Engineering as its preferred tenderer for the construction of a processing plant at its flagship Nova nickel project near Balladonia.

Work on the fixed-sum, engineering, procurement and construction contract is expected to begin later this year.

GR said it would update the market further on the proposed project timing and the anticipated earnings impact once it progressed its appointment as preferred tenderer and entered into a formal contract with Sirius.

Sirius said development and construction of the Nova nickel mine was progressing on or ahead of schedule in all areas.

"Contracts still to be awarded include the power station, the overhead power distribution and the bulk earth works," the company said in a statement.

"Tenders for these are in the final stages of evaluation."

GR shares were up six cents, or 7.32 per cent, to 88 cents at 9am while Sirius shares were off 18 cents, or 6.23 per cent, to $2.71.
