UPDATE 2.25pm: Shares in Independence Group moved higher after the multi-commodity miner announced better than expected production across its operations.

The company said full-year nickel production at its Long project was 10,835 tonnes, 8.4 per cent higher than the upper end of guidance.

Copper production at the Jaguar project was 7692 tonnes in concentrate, 28.2 per cent higher than the upper end of guidance and zinc in concentrate was 41,163 tonnes, 1.6 per cent above the upper guidance limit.

Independence said gold production at its new 30 per cent owned Tropicana project was 348,474 ounces (104,542 ounces attributable) for the year and 132,845 ounces (39,853 attributable) for the June quarter.

The Tropicana project, which is 330km east-north-east of Kalgoorlie, poured its first gold in September last year.

The 70 per cent balance of the project is owned by AngloGold.

Managing director Peter Bradford described the production figures as an excellent result.

"We are especially pleased by the strong quarterly production at Jaguar where record tonnages were put through the processing plant during the June quarter," he said.

Independence shares were up 15 cents, or 3.29 per cent, to $4.71 at the close.
