Jetstar axes Perth services

Jetstar is ending Perth flights to Brisbane and Lombok due to lack of demand.

From July 1 the airline will suspend its six times weekly service between Perth and Brisbane.

The airline said this route is “heavily geared towards business travel and we’ve seen yields deteriorate as demand for leisure fares has weakened.”

The four times weekly Perth – Lombok route will be suspended from October 17 because of insufficient demand to sustain services.

“Like all airlines, we review the performance of our routes regularly and make adjustments when it makes sense to do so,” said a spokesman.

All passengers booked on Perth-Brisbane flights scheduled to operate after June 30 will be offered seats on Qantas flights.

Qantas operates 28 return flights a week on this route.

Passengers booked on Perth-Lombok flights scheduled to operate after October 16 will be offered a seat on a Jetstar flight between Perth and Bali (Denpasar) or a refund to the value of their original booking.

Jetstar is also offering all passengers impacted by Perth-Lombok cancellations a $50 Jetstar voucher.

The airline however reaffirmed its commitment to the WA market saying it offers up to 60 flights a week from Perth to destinations including Adelaide (daily), Cairns (four times weekly), Melbourne (up to three times daily), Sydney (daily) and Denpasar (up to three times daily).
