London tourists and locals alike are being invited to follow in the footsteps of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

On the back of William and Catherine's wedding, guidebook publisher Lonely Planet has released the first royal audio tour of London for the iPhone.

The application allows travellers to replicate the route taken by the newlyweds after their April 29 wedding ceremony.

The tour covers 13 main sites, including stops at Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street and St James Palace.

"William and Kate's wedding has created renewed interest in the royal family, so it's the perfect time to release an app to some of London's most iconic sights which are linked to the monarchy," Lonely Planet said in a statement.

The audio guide incorporates material from BBC archives, including the engagement announcement of William and Catherine.

The application is one in a series of five walking tours of Central London offered by Lonely Planet.
