The Department of Corrective Services advised this afternoon that the remand prisoner was found hanging in his cell at about 5am and attempts by staff to resuscitate him were not successful.

The man’s family has been notified.
“A range of support and counselling services are available at the prison for staff and prisoners, including the Aboriginal Visitors Scheme, prison support officer, peer support and chaplaincy services,” the Department said.
