Surfer attacked by shark in northern NSW
A surfer who was bitten by a shark near Elizabeth Beach in northern NSW told reporters he was "ok" but "a bit out of it".
The man in his 60s was surfing at Seven Mile Beach, Booty Point near Forster, at 9:10am on Thursday when he was attacked.
The great white shark came up underneath the surfer's board and snapped it in half, helicopter crew told 7 News.
He suffered puncture wounds to his arm and foot and managed to swim to shore and contact emergency services.
The victim was seen being taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital in an ambulance and told reporters "I’m a bit out of it, but I’m alive".
"That’s the main thing," he said.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson told 7 News Online paramedics treated his lacerations before airlifting him to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
Due to the incident, Seven Mile Beach will be closed until further notice.
