Hockeyroos head coach sacked after allegedly exposing himself to players

Hockey Australia has sacked the head coach of the womens’s Hockeyroos team Adam Commens after he allegedly exposed himself to the players.

Commens is accused of “serious misconduct” and making lewd comments during celebrations in Rio after the women’s hockey finals, the ABC reported.

In a statement issued on Friday night, Hockey Australia said the board made the decision after an investigation was conducted into the claims.

President David Hatt said Hockey Australia would not condone or excuse misconduct in any circumstances.

"On behalf of the board of directors of Hockey Australia, I want to make clear that as an organisation, we take the on-field and off-field behaviour of our players, coaching staff and employees very seriously.

“Hockey Australia holds its people to the highest standards and will not condone or excuse misconduct in any circumstances.”

Commens’ contract was due to expire on September 30, but was terminated early following the incident.
