NSW teen clocked at 80km/h in a 50 zone on a skateboard

It may be all downhill from here for a teenage skateboarder who posted a video of himself speeding at 80 kilometres an hour down a steep road on the central coast.

Locals, and the police, say he's putting himself and others at risk and, while he's now a big hit online, he could be charged if he does it again.

Some would call him brave or even stupid, but there's no doubting Andre Golledge is daring.

His video, which was posted online last week, has already racked up tens of thousands of views.

Flying down the scenic highway at Terrigal, where the speed limit's 50km/h, the 16-year-old was clocked going 80.

“I was like, 'this is cool, some people are filming me',” Andre said.

It stunned residents on the busy road, and not in a good way.

“We just say a prayer for them,” Colin Pinkerton said.

“One of these days they're going to get killed.”

Andre shows the same bravado he displays on the road when talking about the danger.

“If I think about it, my heart starts racing... I get nervous but I still do it anyway.”

Downhill skateboarding is becoming increasingly popular in Australia.

Meets are even organised at the Mount Panorama racetrack at Bathurst.

The problem is there's nowhere to train.

By law, what Andre's doing is illegal.

The rules state a skateboard can't be on the road if the speed limit is greater than 50km/h an hour, or in this case, if the road is divided by a double line.
