Daughter gunned down by mother along with sister was due to be married today

A young woman who was chased down and killed in the street next to her sister by her own mother was planning to marry her fiancé today.

Taylor Sheats and her sister Madison were stabbed by their own mother, Christy Sheats, in the street of their Texas family home on Friday before being shot to death.

A Facebook post by the sister of Taylor's fiancé revealed the 22 year old was due to marry her long time love, Juan Sebastian Lugo, 23, in a small ceremony today.

It is believed the couple would then hold a larger wedding ceremony following Taylor’s college graduation.

The young couple had exchanged promise rings, and shared many images of themselves together on social media.

Juan Sebastian’s sister Maria paid tribute to the sisters in the heartfelt Facebook post.

“Y'all were part of our family, and that will never change,” she wrote.

“The sweetest, most wholesome and caring girls in my life. Y'all were a light in the midst of this crazy world. We will love you two until the end of time.”

Reports said Taylor and Madison fled from their mother as she began firing a gun following a family dispute.

A neighbour has since told reporters she opened her door to discover Christy pointing her gun at her husband Jason Sheats.

“She went to shoot but had run out of bullets. When she went to reload Jason ran into our house and said 'Call 911.'"

The father then ran back outside to plead with Christy "don’t do this, they’re our kids" as she fatally each of the two girld.

The neighbour also claimed that Christy “stabbed the girls before she shot them”.

It is believed the girls’ mother suffered from mental illness, and had also posted multiple times on Facebook about her distaste for gun control.

Neighbour Geno Hernandez, 42, recalled the Sheats as "good neighbours" and revealed that Taylor was visiting her parents and sister to celebrate her father's birthday.

“I watched the girls grow up here since they were about 10 years old,” he said. “They used to play out on the street here.”
