Boyfriend 'glassed, peeled skin off ex when she tried to leave him'

An insecure man badly glassed his girlfriend and knocked her unconscious before killing himself, because the woman was trying to end the relationship.

Chilean man Patricio Marre Avila, 45, reportedly attacked his girlfriend with a broken glass bottle, on June 19, in the city of La Calera.

He allegedly broke a glass bottle and used it to cut the face of mother-of-two Carol Mora Alvarez, 35, and “peel off” parts of her skin, the UK Mirror reported.

It is believed Avila hit the woman over the head with another bottle, knocking her out unconscious, and left her in a room without a window or ventilation.

She reportedly woke up screaming 45 minutes later, causing neighbours to check on her before calling police.

When police arrived they pursued a manhunt for Avila, but when they caught up with him he killed himself.

The day of the attack, Avila admitted on Facebook to be struggling with mental illness.

"I would not say I am perfect, because I know it’s not true,” he wrote in Spanish.

“I have flaws and I get it wrong.

"I am bipolar… but I don't hide. That's just me."

Ms Alvarez’s family told police her attacker was an "extremely possessive man" and described their one-month relationship as 'unhealthy,' that’s why she reportedly went to meet Avila and break up with him.

Ms Alvarez was taken to hospital where she remains in a stable condition, but will need reconstructive surgery on her face, The Mirror confirmed.
