Pregnant woman hanging from Bataclan balcony finds the man who saved her

Friends of the pregnant woman who clung to the ledge of a second storey window during the bloody assault on the Bataclan music hall set out to find the man who saved the expectant mother.

"Help me! I'm pregnant," cried the woman as she hung on for her life as injured and able-bodied music fans ran into the alleyway below her.

For two minutes the woman held on in the video recorded by Le Monde journalist Daniel Psenny.

Had her saviour not sprung from his hiding spot, the weary mother would likely have fallen to her death.

The woman's friends took to social media to find him, since revealed to be a man known only as Sebastian.

When the gunmen entered the music hall and fired the first bullet, fans of US rock band The Eagles of Death Metal thought it was part of the show. Then the second shot cracked.

The band left the stage and the lights came on, bringing a chilling reality.

"They were shooting at anyone they met. Those in the bar went down first. Everyone fell to the ground. I saw a guy next to me take a bullet in the head," the man named only as 'Sebastian' told La Province.

Stuck in the hall, Sebastian took advantage of one terrorist reloading his rifle to make a break for an exit said to be back stage. He hid behind a curtain but found nothing. He climbed some stairs and found himself at a balcony.

"That's when I went to the windows and saw her.

"She was begging people down below if they would catch her if she jumped. But it was chaos down there. We were 15 metres above the ground," Sebastian said.

"I held on for five minutes and then the pregnant woman, who was exhausted, begged me to help her get back inside. That's what I did.

"Five minutes later I felt the barrel of a Kalashnikov against my leg and a terrorist yelling: 'Get down from there ... Lie on the ground'."

With the barrel of the rifle that contributed to the murder of 89 people pressed against him, Sebastian obeyed and became hostage again.

The indiscriminate executions then stopped as French security forces surrounded the building. Injured hostages were let go in tepid negotiations.

Speaking to each other in French, the hostages said the terrorists wanted to talk to journalists and told Sebastian to burn his money to see what it meant to him.

"They told us: 'We're here to make you go through what the innocent are suffering in Syria. You hear the cries of suffering?'

"'Now you feel the fear that people go through every day in Syria. It's war. And that's just the beginning. We will massacre the innocent. We want you to tell everybody.'"

Sebastian was told to tell police to stay away or explosives would be detonated. Human shields were placed entranceways, but when security forces came in they managed to avoid hitting the civilians.

Two stun grenades burst and Sebastian tried to run but was knocked to the ground and trampled. But it was the "happiest day of my life. I was saved."

Friends of the anonymous pregnant woman wanted to thank Sebastian, tracking him down on Twitter and extending her gratitude to all who helped her.

She is reportedly doing well, but while she has become one of the symbols of Friday's attacks that took 132 lives, she hopes to put the incident behind her.
