Two Australian men have been viciously beaten up outside a nightclub in Thailand by five security guards.

The shocking video which has been viewed more than 200,000 times on Facebook, shows five men wearing black-shirts with the word GUARD on the back attacking two men in shorts who appear to be tourists, reports Phuket Wan .

The security guards brutally kick, punch and elbow the Australian men in the 48 second attack as they try and get the men out of the club.

The footage contains a lot of shouting and shows one of the guards kicking one of the men and then punching him in the head.

Shocked passers-by are seen trying to tell the security guards to stop attacking their helpless victims.

Even when the guards do walk back into the club, one of them kicks a victim who is laying on the floor defenselessly.

The same men who tired to intervene go up to the victims to see how they are after the guards go back into the venue.

Security guards in Patong are notoriously prone to violence, particularly towards foreign troublemakers in clubs, expatriate residents told Fairfax.

While alcohol related incidents are not uncommon, Australian consular officials estimate that about 80 per cent of the cases are settled before they hear about them, often through extorted payments.
