An Eagle landed in Australind last Tuesday to officially open the town's new Bunnings Warehouse.

West Coast Eagles legend John Worsfold helped open the wareshouse during a speech to staff and the public.

Warehouse operations manager Dion Turner said he believed the store had been well-received by the community since it opened on May 18.

"We've had a great response and people like the fact they don't have to travel far to go to a Bunnings," he said.

"It shows the fantastic growth of the South West and Australind and Treendale are a part of that."

Mr Turner said team members from the new store were looking forward to welcoming people to the store as well as lending a helping hand in the community.

"Team members have supported a number of community groups already, working together to assist in local community projects including planting herbs and building a compost bin with students from Leschenault Catholic Primary School, and tidying up the gardens for the Leschenault Men's Shed.

"Bunnings is always looking for opportunities to contribute to local causes and we look forward to providing assistance to more Australind community groups in the future."

Mr Worsfold said the new warehouse was "spectacular".

"It's always good to come down and see something brand new in a new area but hearing the number of jobs it has created locally and the interest it has created - that's awesome for Australind," he said.

"It's a real growth area and it's pretty exciting and you could come down here and it's got everything covered."
