State MP to fight driving charge

Vince Catania, plans to fight minor driving charge.

State MP Vince Catania has made a brief appearance in a Perth court to plead not guilty to a minor driving charge.

Mr Catania, who represents the North West Central electorate for the National Party, represented himself at the brief hearing at Perth Magistrate's Court where he pleaded not guilty to one charge of crossing a continuous white line.

The charge carries a penalty of two demerit points, but Mr Catania denied the charge and said he would be giving evidence at a two-hour trial hearing next month.

Prosecutors indicated there would be two other witnesses at the hearing.

Mr Catania, who defected from Labor to the Nationals in 2009, has his electoral HQ in Carnarvon
