Traffic stop leads to drugs charge

Police have charged a woman in Geraldton with drug and weapons offences after a traffic stop overnight.

The woman was stopped by police on Durlacher Street when she was driving a white Holden Statesman with false number plates.

She failed a drug swipe test and was taken to Geraldton Police Station, where police searched her.

Police allegedly uncovered a white clip seal bag containing methylamphetamine and a torch taser weapon.

The 40-year-old woman was charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, using false plates, possessing a prohibited drug and possessing a weapon.

She will face Geraldton Magistrate's Court at a later date.
