A suspicious package containing white powder delivered to the Indonesian consulate in Perth has been deemed non hazardous.

The consulate in the Perth CBD was in lockdown earlier today as Hazmat crews investigated the package.

It is believed the package was opened around midday at the Consulate on Adelaide Terrace.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services hazmat crew and a chemist from the ChemCentre examined the package's contents.

Three St John Ambulance crews were on standby.

Staff have been allowed back inside the building.
