Massimo Luongo might have missed out on the promotion with Swindon Town this week but the Socceroos youngster is still set to move up to the Championship.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Queens Park Rangers - relegated from the Premier League this season - are favourites to sign Luongo and his fellow Swindon midfielder Ben Gladwin.

The Mail says QPR are set to pip Premier League outfit Aston Villa, who they say made an offer of around $A7 million earlier this week for the 22-year-old housemates.

"There are a numbers of offers for Massimo. That’s not surprising because he’s been a star for us this year," Swindon chairman Lee Power told The World Game.

"Something could happen this week - we have three substantial offers in from Premier League clubs and we need to sit down with Massimo and his advisors and decide what to do."

Luongo, part of Australia's Asian Cup winning team in January, opted to stay with Swindon in January to see if he could help the League One side gain promotion to the Championship.

The Robins reached the final at Wembley last Sunday but were beaten 4-0 by Preston North End, whose side contained Australia internationals Bailey Wright and Neil Kilkenny.
