Forget the fairy bread and face painting, a Perth couple has spent $50,000 on their child’s birthday party.

The couple, Eric Lembo and Trang Nguyen, sparked online cricitism after it was revealed they threw a lavish party for their daughter Lauren.

The event offered Disney Characters, face painters, balloon artists, a children's high tea, fairy floss station and a magician.

The menu was equally as impressive with tempura scallops, Arancini, woodfired pizza, oysters and more.

However Mr Lembo has since hit back telling media the 200 guest list event held at a venue he owned ‘wasn’t all about the money’.

The businessman defended the spend saying he regularly donated to charity and the event injected money into the local community.

The 39-year-old said he previously gifted an entire wedding to a terminally ill cancer patient and organised an auction for a victim of the Marysville Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria.

He said he also donated $1000 lunch vouchers to charity auctions.

Mr Lembo felt media coverage of his daughters party wasn’t negative but he was surprised of the backlash which followed.

“One of the comments was that we should send our daughter to a refugee camp so that she can learn the value of money,” he told News Corp.

“That’s very funny because Trang (his partner) and her whole family came to Australia from a refugee camp.”

He said he planned to host another big party next year.

“I am going to inject more money back into the community next year, for Lauren’s fourth birthday,” Mr Lembo said.
