Streisand readying memoir for 2017

Veteran entertainer Barbra Streisand is finally ready to set the record straight about her personal life and career after landing a deal for her long-awaited memoir.

The Funny Girl superstar has long discussed her plans to one day write an autobiography to clear up unfounded rumours about her marriages to Elliott Gould and her current husband James Brolin and allegations of her diva behaviour.

She previously said, “Divas were opera singers... You know, I’m quite ordinary. I’m quite simple, normal. We lead a very simple life, we don’t really like the big time stardom thing, so we stay home most of the time or we take little trips. We take little trips in our truck...

“That’s why I’m gonna write a book because I swear to God, these myths are so far-fetched.”

Now the 73-year-old has agreed to put pen to paper to release her life story in 2017.

The as-yet-untitled book will be published by editors at Viking and will reflect on her childhood, her rise to fame and aspects of her closely-guarded private life.

Streisand has previously worked with Viking bosses to release her coffee table book, My Passion for Design, in 2010.
