Mum-to-be in lucky escape

A couple expecting a child in 7 weeks are thankful they weren’t injured when a car ploughed through their bedroom wall early this morning in High Wycombe.

The couple were asleep in their Golden Cres home about 4am when they heard a large bang come through their walk in wardrobe.

When they got out of bed they discovered a Ford XR6 utility had wedged itself in their bedroom and those in the car had left.

The car had been stolen from a nearby address a few hours earlier and it is believed there were at least two people inside the car at the time of the crash.

Neighbours said they heard a car doing a burnout before hearing the crash.

The street is littered with burn out marks, making it difficult to determine which ones might belong to the stolen utility.

Local residents have nicknamed their street the “High Wycombe Motorplex” because of their ongoing hoon issues.

The couple, who asked not to be named, said the crash caused the wall of their newly painted nursery to move.

Police are investigating the crash and ask that anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the vicinity of Golden Cres in the hours before the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
