One dead in Wundowie crash

A driver has died following a crash between a car and a truck near Wundowie this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Great Eastern Highway, approximately 3km west of Hawke Ave about 11.20am.

It is understood the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the car drifted onto the wrong side of the road and collided head on with the truck.

The car driver died at the scene.

Wundowie and Mundaring volunteer fire and rescue crews attended the crash.

St John Ambulance paramedics treated the truck driver for shock but he did not suffer any serious physical injuries.

The crash caused traffic congestion along Great Eastern Highway for several hours.

An report into the cause of the crash will be prepared by Wundowie Police.
