A weather alert is in place for the South West, including Bunbury, Busselton and Margaret River.

A low pressure system is expected to cross the southwest corner of the state overnight, bringing the risk of thunderstorms and damaging winds.

Geographe Bay is expected to be hardest hit with a storm surges expected late tonight and tomorrow morning. There is a risk of flooding, the bureau warns.

Showers are forecast to continue on Monday and Tuesday and the bureau’s forecasters say it could be Wednesday before there is relief from the wet weather.
