Greyhound identity stood down over conduct
A leading greyhound racing identity has been stood down after allegedly refusing to clarify answers he gave stewards on training practices in the industry.
Racing and Gaming Minister Colin Holt ordered the WA Greyhound Racing Association yesterday to stand down Anthony Glenny from its board pending an inquiry into his conduct.
Mr Glenny was interviewed by Racing and Wagering WA stewards after they conducted covert surveillance on his Bakers Hill training facility.
Stewards found Mr Glenny was not using illegal training practices in greyhound trials. But he allegedly refused to co-operate when stewards asked him to expand on his answers.
Mr Glenny will face a stewards' inquiry on May 18.
He has been banned from starting greyhounds in races until the inquiry is finished.
Covert stings at WA greyhound training facilities have been ramped up since revelations of live baiting in the industry.
ABC's Four Corners program showed footage in February of some of the nation's greyhound identities using live piglets, rabbits and possums to blood their animals.
