A police spokeswoman said that among the various items stolen were the ashes in a silver/white hand-size box, with a rainbow butterfly image on it and wrapped in a white drawstring bag.

"The drawstring bag looks similar to a jewellery bag and this may be why it was taken," the spokeswoman said.

Anyone in the area of Hayden Close yesterday who saw any suspicious activity, or anyone with any information relating to this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
