Wool and wattle fit for a princess

The new royal princess will snuggle up with wool and wattle thanks to an official gift from the Abbott Government.

And the as yet unnamed royal baby will also help to save and endangered Australian animal.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby, born on Sunday morning, will be given a Tasmanian merino wool cot blanket, embroidered with images of wattle.

In echoes of the gift for her big brother Prince George, a donation will be made in the baby’s name to save an endangered native animal.

The Government will donate $10,000 to the Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria to help conserve the mountain pygmy possum.

Just 2000 possums are left in the wild. It is Australia’s only hibernating marsupial.
