Just days after kicking off his Aussie tour, Sam Smith has been forced to withdraw from his trip Down Under.

Promoters have announced this afternoon the British crooner had received doctor’s orders to cancel all remaining dates for his In The Lonely Hour tour due to a vocal injury.

Smith was due to play at HBF Stadium in Perth on Monday and was also scheduled to appear at the Logie Awards on Sunday.

In a statement, the 22-year-old said it “killed” him to cancel the tour.

“I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small haemorrhage on my vocal chords,” Smith said.

“The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal chords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue.”

Promoters said they were hoping to reschedule the dates for December in a bigger venues.
