Stellar chef for Telethon

The 40-strong brigade of chefs at Broome's Cable Beach Club Resort say they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of international star chef David Thompson, who will be cooking up a storm in June for Telethon.

Thompson, an Australian whose Thai cooking is regarded as among the best in the world, is a Michelin-starred master chef and the owner of the celebrated Nahm restaurant in Bangkok.

He is the star turn at this year's Rob Broadfield Dinner For Telethon weekend.

Joining the line-up of cooking talent in Broome this year will be two local high flyers, 2015 West Australian Chef of the Year Aaron Carr from Vasse Felix and Pete Manifis from InContro restaurant at South Perth. Thompson will be cooking a multi-course meal from his award-winning Bangkok menu.

Cable Beach Club executive chef Joji Iwama says the local chefs are looking forward to having such celebrated chefs in their kitchen.

"This is very exciting," Mr Iwama said.

"The Telethon dinner is one of the highlights of our year and a great opportunity for our chefs to meet and work with these amazing chefs."

Last year, the three-day weekend of food, fashion and fun presented by Hawaiian Investments raised $350,000 for Telethon.

At this year's event, guests will be whisked to Broome by private jet while enjoying bespoke in-flight food service.
